Meet Your Instructors

David Hughes - Owner & Chief Instructor

David is a 4th degree black belt in ITF Taekwon-do. He began training in February 2005 and has been running clubs since March 2014. Over the years, David has competed across the UK with honours including winning the English Championships. David still trains and competes with the fight squad. He has a degree in BSc | Sports Coaching and has a background in coaching other sports. David runs the advanced and adult Taekwon-do classes, along with the day-to-day of the club and owns HF Martial Arts.

Lauren Hughes - Ninja Foxes & Head Instructor

Lauren heads up the Ninja Foxes programme for ages 3-7 years, and teaches the beginner & intermediate Taekwon-do sessions. Lauren has a rich background in teaching both inside and outside of club sessions, with experience as a teaching assistant in schools and working with vulnerable children.

Wayne Bower - Kickboxing Instructor

Wayne is our Kickboxing instructor at the Thornton Academy. Wayne has a background in Kickboxing and Thai Boxing, including tournament experience and "fight night" competitions.

James Laycock - Instructor

James is a 1st Degree Black Belt instructor in ITF Taekwon-do, who helps run the sessions in Wrose and teaches the Ninja Foxes and family classes on Saturday mornings in Thornton. James is also one of our senior coaches for 'Team HF', our tournament team that competes up and down the country.

Evangeline - Chief Junior Instructor

Evangeline is our chief junior instructors, assisting and helping at classes across our venues, and leading by example for our junior members to follow.
